Meet TED

ALT TEXTEveryone should know TED. TED is cool, and he’s not a person but an organization.

In they’re own words TED “stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader. The annual conference now brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes).” The best part is you can actually listen to most of these talks for FREE on their website, or you can subscribe to their RSS feed, podcast, blog or which ever method of technology transfer you prefer.

The TED talks feature some of the world’s most fascinating people, even those whose principals and beliefs are on opposite ends of the spectrum. For example, listen to an “Atheists Call to Arms” by Richard Dawkins followed by “Technology, Faith and Human Shortcomings” by the Rev. Billy Graham. Let that soak in your thinker.

I recommend the following:
The Mystery Box” by J.J. Abrams, where he discusses LOST, his Grandfather, working with Tom Cruise and where his ideas come from. Check it out here.

How Ordinary People Become Monsters … or Heroes” by Philip Zimbardo, known for the Stanford Prison Study, a fascinating discussion about behavior. Check it out here.
